WTO in Buenos Aires: Declaration of Latin American and Caribbean countries

The member states of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) and of the World Trade Organization (WTO) signed a Joint Declaration in which they commended and thanked the Argentine Government and people for hosting the 11 th WTO Ministerial Conference, highlighting the historic fact that this high-level forum is being held in our region for the first time in many years.

The Joint Declaration reaffirms the commitment of GRULAC countries —among them Argentina— to continue working on a fair and equitable multilateral trade system based on rules and the principles of non-discrimination, transparency, inclusiveness and the centrality of development as its ultimate goal.

In addition, the Declaration sets forth the common goal shared by GRULAC countries of overcoming poverty and inequality, in order to provide citizens with more opportunities and contribute to the strengthening of the multilateral trade system and its progress towards a development process in which no one is left behind.
